Father, Architect, Rotarian

I am a Father, Architect, and Rotarian focused on a sustainable future that empowers local businesses and citizens.

I believe strongly that our purpose in life is to help each other. I take the idea of putting service above self to heart in all that I do. It is my responsibility to give my time and skills when I can make a difference for the community through volunteering.

Originally from Bluefield, West Virginia, I grew up in Roanoke and learned from my parents the importance of hard work. My first job at 12 years old was delivering newspapers where I grew that business from 30 homes to more than 300 in a few years. I also worked in the summers as a lifeguard and through the year once I turned 16 at Burger King. I attended Virginia Western Community College after high school achieving a general studies degree. I went on to the University of Virginia to earn a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee.

I am one of three owners of Gaines Group Architects. I have lived in the Valley for the past 12 years and Harrisonburg, City for the last 2 1/2. I
attend Park View Mennonite Church with my two daughters, ages 13 and 15. I opened the Harrisonburg branch of Gaines Group Architects 12 years ago. I am passionate about building a better community through design - our firm's mission statement. We design a wide variety of projects that build the fabric that form our communities.
